Commonwealth Gone French

9 Oct

One week after the now outlawed date on which English speaking Cameroon reunited with French speaking Cameroun, Anglophone Cameroonians watched in shock as their president and leaders addressed the welcome assembly of the Commonwealth Organisation summit in the French language spiced with some pidgin-creole English. For crying out loud, this is an association of English speaking countries and not a summit of La Francophonie!
This is enough evidence that the country is suffering a serious identity and marginalization crisis. Warped bilingualism! Cameroon is a French state with a parasitic and relegated language minority. No wonder the people I have met in my travels always insist that Cameroon was purely French speaking without English.
